This is a great story! Mr. Hixson is a great story teller and this story just happens to be about mules!
You won't be disappointed. He tells of the 20-hitch matched white mule team he trained and showed in towns and cities
across the West in the early 1970's! You will enjoy,as I did, the stories of the wrecks, antics and honors
he and his crew experienced in their travels. Hopefully George will tell us more of his stories!
Do you have another one for us George? We'll be waiting!

George Hixson is about as authentic a man of the old west as you can find. Growing up in Colorado, he and his brother were treated like grown-up men by their father. There was no coddling. At age ten he drove the wagon trailing a band of sheep from Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Limon, Colorado, and was forty-nine days on the trail. Ranching and working with livestock filled his life and prepared him for his stint as a mule twister. The 20-Hitch matched white mule team he drove in the 70s and 80s was a job that took him and his team all over the western parts of the United States, from small county fairs to The Cow Palace in San Francisco, the Denver Stock Show, and of course, The Portland Rose Festival, which started it all. In TALES OF A MULE TWISTER he recounts many of his adventures and the rigors encountered driving that team.
