(More customer reviews)Set in various parts of Alaska, young readers who were drawn in by love of dogs, reindeer or mules will leave the book with more than just animal stories, they will have learned a little bit of Alaskan history and have a vivid picture of the kinds of people who have lived and adventured there. It is a good read-aloud book, and the pictures add to the stories. I wish all history could be presented with true stories such as these that catch the flavor of the time and place better than any list of dates and political events could ever do.
