(More customer reviews)This the 76th book in the Warpaint series. In common with most of the others it is a 8-1/4" x 11-3/4", 60 page, stapled card cover. Like the more recent books that cover more modern subjects there is a welcome amount of color photography on the insides as well as on the cover. There are many full pages of very well done color profiles featuring both US Navy and foreign color schemes. There is also a page with the full five view treatment.
Other Warpaint standards are here as well. There are tables showing the production run, the units (of all services) operating the type, serials and codes of aircraft serving in the various air arms, plastic kits available, and general specifications. There are also two pages of detailed close up photos of Tracker/Trader/Tracer features. There are four pages of Tracker/Trader/Tracer line drawings at 1/72nd scale.
Most of the book is given over to the antisubmarine Tracker models as well it should be given the numbers built and especially the number of services that operated it. Author Stafrace's well written text is broken down by the three Tracker/Trader/Tracer versions. The Tracker section is then broken down into a concise history of carrier borne antisubmarine aircraft, the origins, of the Tracker, US Navy service, and foreign service alphabetically by nation. The Trader and Tracer sections are much briefer but more than adequate with details of the history of carrier onboard delivery and airborne early warning carrier planes. There is only the briefest coverage of the Trackers civilian firebombing career.
About the only complaint I have with the book is the lack of photos (or drawings as far as that goes) clearly showing the rear of the Tracker's engine nacelles with their dispensers.
In short, this is one of the better Warpaints, covering a much neglected but important and long lived aircraft. Highly recommended to modelers and general enthusiasts alike.
