(More customer reviews)Engaging characterizations here and I am reluctant to leave them at the end of Part 1. It is really fun to find Blackman weaving historical situations in through his fantasy adventure. Since I have been immersed in the history of steam in which he is playing and tweaking, I get double enjoyment out of the play and plot. The broad brush he uses to create vehicles and mannerisms for his characters has got to get really wild in the coming books.
Hob may be evil itself, but surely in a bad boy way and we do not cower from his tricks but enjoy their wild breadth and promise of ingenuity at the next turn.
I see the author is starting to accumulate snapshots of his books against exotic landscapes of the world, which is fitting considering the "wild ride" on which he takes us.
