I'm in the office, my favorite room in our 3,600 sq. foot home, with dinner already prepared for my husband of 27 years.I'm writing while reflecting on some of the major events in my life. It's quiet except for the welcomed interruptions of my oldest daughter's phone call describing my grandson's most recent accomplishments, my middle daughter showing me pictures from the bridal magazines as her wedding date is approaching, and my youngest daughter bursting through the door with her laundry after being away at college, for an entire week. There is a slight pain in my upper back, probably due to sitting too long at the computer, but it's much harder to dismiss than it used to be.It's still difficult for me to comprehend that I have Coronary Artery Disease and a stent in my left descending artery is keeping me alive.A two time survivor of life threatening disease, and living through bankruptcy, not only financially but physically, psychologically, and spiritually I am able to communicate what it is to be bankrupt in everyway.I have risen above these circumstances and encourage others to do the same.Having been a physically fit, successful, positive, yet driven "young" woman, I have been a speaker on women's issues for the past 20 years. The willingness to show who I am presented me the opportunity to speak to women all over the United States, and allowed me to meet with Muhammad Ali, The Prime Minister of Israel (Menacham Begin), President Reagan, Mayors, City Council Members and world known ministers and civic leaders."HELP... THERE'S AN ELEPHANT ON MY CHEST" will have you laughing, crying, and self-reflecting while relating to my story.I am not a doctor, and this book isn't a medical guide, nor is it another book filled only with facts, figures, and data. It's an honest story by someone who has lived through the trials of life and matters of the heart. The book will empower and encourage you to be your own advocate and trust your God-given intuition. As Women's Heart Disease is slowly making its way to the forefront of the information highway, "HELP... THERE'S AN ELEPHANT ON MY CHEST" brings to light why 500,000 women are dying each year from Heart Disease.Though, Heart Disease is not sexy or glamorous, and there isn't a female celebrity wearing a ribbon and admitting to having Heart Disease, I wrote this book because there isn't a platform broad enough for me to share with women that you can control and prevent Heart Disease. My book takes a deeper, extremely private look into this battle.I share my personal journey of living with Heart Disease, along with statistics, and practical steps to becoming healthier physically, psychologically and spiritually. This book brings to light reasons why Heart Disease is the number one killer of American women as no other book on the market does.I am your neighbor, your sister, your co-worker, the woman next to you panting on the treadmill, your mom's friend, and yes that's me you see Saturday morning at the grocery store.
