The amazing detail, accurate time period descriptions and clearly stated corrected historical points are proof of Mr. Hinsons immense amount of research to prove there is a treasure hidden. I can see college courses developed around this book and cryptologists studying his findings for years to come. Great read and unique approach that makes you keep coming back for more. Highly recommend!

Instead in this book the Author, who has mastered the Intermarket analysis, shares discoveries on market correlations, and helps reader to develop indicators and strategies for Etf, Futures and Stocks.
This book makes easier to understand today markets, and I suggest it for intraday and both long and short term trading. It is not for fiction traders who bet on markets direction, but for people really trading their own accounts, studying a lot of technical analysis and pondering experts ideas.
The book is written in plain English, contains useful info on international markets, and a lot of MetaStock (MS) codes to help users to design (or improving their) trading systems, even you aren't the best programmer. Users of other technical software can easily develop their trading strategies, because in the Appendix there are the MS formulas and Test Specifications for all systems.
Reading this book grow up your fever to go to your pc for studying the correlations Author disclosed, and training with his trading strategies !
Minus : discussion on fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms are very introductory (but these are very specific topics). Author limited his Intermarket analysis to major markets, and not all exchange products are covered.
Plus : the best book on the subject I ever red : the Intermarket concepts behind trading ideas are well explained. Trading strategies are deeply tested. Author insights help to really make money in today markets. Good value for price : many systems described would cost hundred dollars to buy !

As a broker and former Risk Manager in the financial markets, I am usually somewhat suspicious of books by "traders" and/or "pundits". I usually find myself confronted by lots of self-serving drivel and advice that is not in any way applicable to typical traders. This book is a refreshing change from that.
Every new or newer trader should read this book. The excellent charts and analysis contained on them are worth the book's price all by themselves. What I found of particular interest, though, was his honest and refreshing approach to the oft-neglected subject of Risk. Every trader should read this portion of the book.
The book lays out in intricate detail the process a true professional trader must go through to successfully speculate. Fascinating stuff!

Tom also shows the ways you can invest in commodities. These include futures, options, ETFs and so on. It's done in an easy-to-understand way, with many helpful examples.
Along the way, you'll find tips and techniques to improve your investment success as well. More importantly, Tom has advice on how to protect yourself from the risks.
Excellent book!

(More customer reviews)All About Investing in Gold demystifies many of the complexities and myths around gold investing and does so in purely objective fashion. Many books on this subject in particular are padded with doomsday underpinnings or have a "get rich quick" appeal. Not this one. If you're looking for a compact, yet thorough primer on the often nebulous world of gold by people who have done it (not just talk about it), this book is it.
After reading this book I gave it to my elderly father who worked his whole life in a blue collar job only to see his retirement wiped out in 2008. He commented on how if someone would have written this book for the "common reader" 50 years ago when he began investing, his portfolio would have stood a fighting chance. I agree, and am confident that the information in this book arms me with the fundamental knowledge to make wise decisions when it comes to gold and my portfolio.
Great read all around!

(More customer reviews)This is one of the best and most complete books on precious metals investing that I've read. It is great for the new investor with little or no knowledge on the subject or the more seasoned investor who has at least some limited experience. It's certainly not for the very experienced investor in precious metals. It's not that advanced. As it says, it's "A reference for the rest of us."
The book covers all sorts of PM investing, including mutual funds, ETFs, options, futures and physical holding. It gives the advantages and disadvantages of each and makes suggestions for several types of investors.
It also talks about the reporting of each type of bullion and touches on the IRS rulings and your responsibility when selling. It talks about the privacy issue and what type of bullion to buy to provide you with the greatest privacy.
There are also a number of wonderful resources listed in several chapters. I found a number of these resources extremely useful.
The author is a professional. He has no vested interest in selling gold or silver or other metals. It also talks to you about selling --- something many books fail to do. The author also discusses technical analysis and other ways to analyze a PM investment.
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in investing in precious metals at any level. It talks about all forms of metals, not just gold.

A Trader's First Book on Commodities: An Introduction to The World's Fastest Growing Market Review

(More customer reviews)On a 1-10 scale I would give my own knowledge of stocks a 7, bonds a 5 and commodities a 3. I am in the steel business, but steel is not traded like a commodity (though there have long been efforts to change that). I understand the general theory of how the commodities markets are supposed to work, but I ordered this book because I wanted to get a deeper understanding of how they function on a day to day basis. I was very pleased with the scope of this book and would recommend it to people who are considering getting involved, in a modest way, with commodities.
Please note though that one book, no matter the author's skill or breadth of knowledge, is NOT capable of turning anyone in to a professional commodities trader. Some of the negative reviews are both amusing and scary because they seem to be written by people who figured that they would just buy X commodity and suddenly become millionaires. I guess every market (and poker) relies to some extent on Darwinism - it's the amateurs that end up making the pros rich.
I think that Ms. Garner manages to successfully steer a course down the middle in terms of providing enough broad, general, information for newbies, while still including some actionable technical information which would allow you to start trading immediately (if unsuccessfully).
At the end of the day, commodities trading isn't for me. Between a full-time job I don't have the time left to devote hours and hours to do the research that might possibly allow me to be a successful dabbler in commodities. Nor do I have the ability to constantly watch the markets to catch the rapid rise and falls that provide brief trading opportunities. This book helped to convince me that commodities trading is best left to others. It is this conclusion that perhaps is worth far more than the purchase price of this book.
