And a peek into Apalacian Hillbilly culture. After reading this I'm not sure what, other than being in a constant drunken state, could make a father so cruel to his own children, wife, and animals. Judging from the writer's account of his childhood, I'm sure there is much detail left out, but no one could make this stuff up and you can tell from reading it that the writer is still mentally stuck in the situations he describes. Sometimes it is a little difficult to read because the writing and punctuation are a little crude and unsophisticated and the timeline is a little confusing, which I think is due to the writer's lack of a formal education as is explained in the story, but this is definitely a worthwhile read.

Born Into Hell is the correct title for this true story. There is no need for exaggeration. The simple truth is, it has been more than anyone should have to remember.I wish I could wake up some beautiful morning and say, 'Oh heck, that was just a bad dream. Now get up and go on. Be happy that nightmare was just your imagination, and that the blood on the pillowcase isn't real. The swollen hand isn't real either, and that coffee table that was thrown into the wall just jumped over there by itself.'Read this short story, then you tell me what I could have done to change anything.
