(More customer reviews)Kain and Vanessa are another set of characters that will crawl deep into your heart. I really enjoyed reading of their escapades together.
Kain, the stepson of the vicious Adam Clayhill, meets Vanessa and her Aunt Ellie, and cousin Henry. The threesome are determined to travel to Junction City, and meet the brother of Ellie's dead husband (whom she was only married about a month to before his death) in order to locate kinfolk for her son, Henry. With no travel sense the trio are sure for some major problems, if not to lose their lives. Kain sees no other choice then to escort them to Junction City himself... although he's already discovered his strong attraction to the red-headed, Vanessa.
Ellie's son, Henry, is a simple-minded man and one of the main reasons the trio was taking this trip were because her fear of who would take care of him after she was gone, and not wanting to burden Vanessa with his care if she ever marries. She hoped they would find some kin, that would ease this fear for her. Ellie and Henry were not prepared for what they actually did find in Junction City. It seems there is no limit to the lives Adam Clayhill has destroyed... but you'll be pleased at the outcome of this story.
The double wedding that takes place in Junction City, will reunite the wonderful characters from the previous two books of this trilogy. You'll discover what has been occuring in the lives of Logan and Rosalee Horn, Cooper and Lorna Parnell, Arnie and Syliva Henderson, and many more. This reunion is perfect for the last of the trilogy... and what happens to the two villians, Adam and Della Clayhill, will give you satisfaction as well.
Along the way, you'll love the variety of characters from the two Texan brothers - Jeb and Clay, to John Wisner, and Mary Ben - the love of Henry Hill!

(More customer reviews)Ana has done it again! The Mackinzies were great , but the Fraser's are going to be even better. Ana has done a great job of depicting the hardships of that era, but moreover has shown Rebecca as a very strong, and determined woman to make this journey to the West. And then to make it even better, Rebecca learns lessons along the way about letting go of the past, and realizing that destiny is often right at our doorstep. The book is funny, sad, romantic and just plain wonderful!! I can't wait for the next one to come out so I can read it in one day too!!

(More customer reviews)This book is great. Every thing aout it is really good. The characters were well developed and the plot was thought out. I've read lots of books and this one is up there with the best of them. I never really liked books the midwest but this one changed my mind. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading. Even those who think they don't like books about early midwestern days, this is a must read. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Reluctant Bride (Harlequin American Romance) Review

(More customer reviews)Grand Canyon guide Max Hunter is frustrated with his fiancée sports photographer Kari Cavanaugh as she always has an excuse for delaying their marriage. He decides no more shenanigans from his beloved even if it means breaking their two-year old engagement and his heart.
They are heading to the Grand Canyon, which may be their last trip as an entry. However someone claiming to be Kari's mother Margot arrives. Her mother allegedly committed suicide though no body was found. Kari prays the woman is her mother, but if she is why did she vanish; if not why is she terrorizing Kari.
This is an enjoyable romantic suspense as the mystery of Margot makes for a taut thriller that supersedes the underdeveloped romantic subplot. Still readers will be hooked from the moment Margot arrives in Arizona. Like the beleaguered heroine who is unsure whether she wants the woman to be her mom or not as there are pros and cons to each; fans will ponder could this be her mom and if yes where was she and why appear now; while if not sinister stalking seems strangely possible but once again why Kari.

The Searching Hearts Review

(More customer reviews)This book let you feel their feelings. Three romances form on this trip from Fort Worth, Texas to Coopertown, California. Each romance is different, and special in their own way. For Laura and Buck, it is beautiful. A girl that is blind, a man that has a troubled soul. Her beauty-inside and out changed his life. For Tucker and Lucas it was hot all the way. Explosive is a better word for it! Then there is Rafe Blatchet and Marie Hook. Who would have thought she was a doctor. She found a love in a man who could accept that she was a doctor and would not be intimidated by her. It was great. But I won't forget the bond that these women created by being strong and standing up for themselves against odds such as abuse (sexual, physical, and mental), Indians, and renegades. It keeps the reader going. Once again I will say that Dorothy Garlock has brought the frontier home. Thank You!

Ride to Raton Review

He makes the mistake, however, of stopping in Pueblo City where trouble finds him. Set upon, shot, then jailed, an old family "friend" bails him out. The help is not free, and James must work himself clear of these entanglements.
On his way over the mountains at last, he finds the body of wealthy Mexican. A letter explains that the dead man was going to Leones to acquire a bride. James has found an expensive bride gift on the body and determines he must take it, along with an explanation, to the woman.
At the same time, events have sent Amparo Garces y Martinez on a journey from Santa Fe into Colorado where an arranged marriage awaits her. Arriving at the mission, she waits there for her husband to claim her. However, it is James Owen who arrives. In a moment of chivalry, James marries the girl with the intention of taking her back to Santa Fe. Naturally, his plans go awry. First, although he fights his feelings, he falls in love with her. Second, Amparo willingly, joyously, returns his love, and somewhere between here and there, James decides they should go home to his family.
While on the trail, upon reaching Trinidad, they are swept up in a fight between Mexican and white battling factions. Barricaded in the town mercantile, they hope to avoid the trouble--but trouble comes to them. Caught in a crossfire, Amparo is shot, and now James takes up a trail of vengeance against the killers of his lost love.
Ride To Raton is the action packed story of a conflicted man who strives always to do the right thing. The story will catch at your heart and stay with you long after you put the book down. Highly recommended for all fans of western lore.

Patience (Brides of the West #6) Review

(More customer reviews)I was throughly enjoying the Brides of the West series until I got to this book. I am sure the rest of the story would have been great, but I could not get through the beginning for the story began to just tell a different past than what happened before. Such as Dylan was the one to bring the girls from Missouri when actually in Glory it was Jackson. Again it mixed Glory story with Ruth when Patience refer to Ruth shooting an elk and covering her and Dylan with it. It is as if neither Glory's or Ruth's story was told. They blended the two. After that I just was not into the book. The book lost it's appeal. I returned it to store for my money back I may read it sometime in the future but not right now.

Foxfire Bride Review

When Matthew hears the best is a scout called Fox, he eagerly seeks him out. Matthew is completely shocked to find that Fox isnt a "he" at all...Fox is a woman. A woman like no other.
Fox was once the one of the most sought after scouts, but an injury ended all of that...Until handsome Matthew Tanner shows up and pleads for her to help him to save his father. Fox takes one look at Tanner and the money he is willing to pay her and decides that this is one offer too good to refuse.
I have read many books by Maggie Osborne and have enjoyed her work time and time again. Unfortunately, Foxfire Bride didnt do much for me. I felt like the writing was very choppy. Scenes would leap from one paragraph to the next with no smooth transitions and POV switches were all over the place. It all felt rushed somehow.
My main complaint with this book was all about the characters - Fox especially. I dont expect every character to be a beauty. I dont have a problem with a heroine being average or even ugly, but Fox was just flat out unappealing. She was so manly, I just couldnt get past it.
As for Tanner...I just felt like he wasnt very memorable. He was very blah to me. I couldnt connect with him or Fox at all. This made it hard for me to really care about their story and its outcome.
As I said before, I have read Maggie Osborne in the past and enjoyed her. I will definitely give her a try again in the future, but as for Foxfire Bride, this is not a book that I would recommend.

Johnny Fowler creates one exciting episode after another, very creative. You will love reading the story of Kate and Man survive thrilling Indian attacks, bouts with thieves, and wild animals. This story is about the Wild West as it really happened in those days. In fact, we want to read more about Kate and Man as their lives unfold. Another adventure, please.
