(More customer reviews)I read Lipinski's "A Bump in the Road" a few months ago and loved it! (Note: "Not Ready for Mom Jeans" is a follow up book to "A Bump in the Road," and I definitely recommend reading "A Bump in the Road" first so you can get all the back stories, etc. on the characters.) I was so excited to read "Not Ready for Mom Jeans" and find out what else was in store for Clare and company! I was definitely not disappointed...
The book picks up as Clare's maternity leave is coming to an end and follows Clare as she enrolls new baby Sara in day care and returns to work. You will laugh out loud as Clare zips up her "Miss Piggy Pants" every day and tries to function at work on a couple of hours of sleep as she plans her ex-college sweetheart's society golf tournament. And you will also feel real sympathy for Clare as she agonizes over being away from Sara while simultaneously dealing with her friend Reese's disintegrating marriage and her own mother's battle with breast cancer.
"Not Ready for Mom Jeans" reads like chatty e-mails from a close friend. Clare's character is so relatable, and I think this is what makes the book so much fun. I really hope this is not the last we have seen of Clare and family...
I read this book in one day and highly recommend it! It is a fun, light read yet also very touching. It will definitely strike a cord with you if you are a mom or are thinking of becoming one! Enjoy!!!

Patience (Brides of the West #6) Review

(More customer reviews)I was throughly enjoying the Brides of the West series until I got to this book. I am sure the rest of the story would have been great, but I could not get through the beginning for the story began to just tell a different past than what happened before. Such as Dylan was the one to bring the girls from Missouri when actually in Glory it was Jackson. Again it mixed Glory story with Ruth when Patience refer to Ruth shooting an elk and covering her and Dylan with it. It is as if neither Glory's or Ruth's story was told. They blended the two. After that I just was not into the book. The book lost it's appeal. I returned it to store for my money back I may read it sometime in the future but not right now.

Prom and Prejudice Review

(More customer reviews)This was a fun read, and a cute retelling of the Jane Austen classic, Pride and Prejudice. Although I did enjoy it, it fell a little flat for me. Obviously the story was bound to be a little predictable, if you've read Pride and Prejudice, but I felt that it was just a little too predictable. It went beyond just a general parallel and became more like an exact duplicate. I really felt the author could have done a little bit more with this and brought something new into the mix.
Although I liked the Lizzie character in this story, there was strength to the original Lizzie that I missed in this one. This Lizzie seemed to let herself be bothered too much by the things around her, whereas the original Lizzie held herself rather above it and was able to keep it more in perspective, until the very last large event occurs that disrupts her entire family.
Similarly, Will Darcy seemed a little lifeless to me. I would have liked to have known a little bit more about this character, his life, and his feelings. I wanted to see some emotional reaction or get to know his inner workings a little bit better and see him more as a three dimensional character.
My favorite character in this retelling was Jane. She seemed to fit the original Jane rather well, but the author actually improved on her a little bit and gave her a littie of her own strength that the original Jane didn't have. I found this change refreshing and unique. I felt the author brought something new into the character that was very appealing, while still holding true to the original.
I did enjoy reading this story, as it was cute and light-hearted. I love this author and think she's enormously talented. I can't wait until her next book comes out. I would recommend this book to others, especially if they haven't read Pride and Prejudice before. Overall, a very fun read.
