My parents were born during the Great Depression so I thought this would enlighten me as to the times they grew up in. It did. Times were very hard but this isn't just a story about hard times. This is a very loving family and a joy to read about. Mr. Pollard is a good storyteller. It really felt like I was reading someone's personal, unedited memoirs. I wish my Daddy would do this. What a wonderful treasure Mr. Pollard has given his family and to anyone who likes to "go back in time" as much as is possible for us mere mortals.
