I have read many hunting books in the last few months and found this book to be the most honest and forward text on Elk hunting for the begginer. The book opens your thought process by addressing the necessary basic knowledge for the begginer. From planning, tactics, elk behaviors, the different stages of the rut, rack bracketting, and the gear necessary to complete the task. What I found most helpful is how Mike Eastman really breaks everything down into an easy to understand format. If you really desire to hunt elk in the west, I would suggest you put this book at the front of your list. You will not regret it!
