Crosscurrents is a fascinating historical time travel romance novel with interesting and engaging characters: spunky independent Kate, lost in another time, the dark haired, blue-eyed Scotsman Lachlan, and the inscrutable Native American French mix, Rene', who each in their own way help her find her destiny. Is it to return to 1993, or stay in 1763? I won't tell, read the book and find out!
The detailed descriptions of the flora and fauna of the Great Lakes area make you feel that you have been there, and if you have not, that you want to go! This book is also well researched, and a sugar coated history lesson of the aftermath of the French Indian War. The mystical nature element added an additional layer of enjoyment.
Read it! You won't regret it.

It is 1993. Kate Dennis, sailing south to north in the Great Lakes on the restored 1920's sloop Valkyrie, finds herself in the chilly waters of Lake Huron and the boat suddenly nowhere to be seen. The strangeness intensifies-rescuers turn rogue, rough forts are hotbeds of revolt, and the wilderness is vast and virgin. As the current year reveals itself to be 1763, Kate struggles to survive, to understand the unsettled aftermath of the French and Indian War, and to return to her own time. But a Lake Superior canoe journey with an estranged Scotsman and a half-breed Ojibwe reveals new paths for Kate, both within and without, and a future unforeseen.
