Shoot Magazine, the publisher, did the author a great dis-service. The color photos are not of the quality expected in this digital age and there is no excuse for that. The binding is of the cheapest type of hardbinding you can get and I find it extremely offensive to pay $39.95 for a book that is full of advertisments and to top it off not one of the advertisments is for a product that is refered to in the text. One needs only to compare it to "Packing Iron" to see how a good book should be produced.
As for the author, in a time when Hollywood has absolutely no imagination, Mr. Sherayko should be a God amoung very common men. He really knows what he is talking about but he missed the mark in this book. I was expecting a book about the gear in the movie Tombstone, not a general history of late 19th century firearms. I have been collecting arms books for 40 years and there are many, many books available that do a far better job of both photographing and detailing the history of guns of the American west. I wanted to know about the clothes actually used in the movie not "similar to" the ones used. I specifically wanted information on the spurs and spur straps Wyatt wore, they are not even mentioned. Many items are shown with no attribution to makers and the ones that tell who made them there is no reference how to contact the makers.
This book had an incredible potential but it just did'nt come through. Wait for the $9.95 remainder.
