(More customer reviews)My fourth grade class read this book along with studying about the early people of Michigan. The story proved priceless in terms of authentic learning by putting the expository nature of textbooks into a delightful narrative. The students were intreagued by the "chase" (you'll have to read it), and were able to relate to the main characters Nick and Chris.
A must for teachers and students learning about the transition of Michigan land from the Three Fires (Chippewa, Ottawa, and Potawatomi), French, British, to eventually American control.
