The Comanchero Frontier: A History of New Mexican-Plains Indian Relations Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)This was apparently originally published over 40 years ago as Kenner's doctoral thesis. The writing style might reflect that, but it's a very good, very readable narrative about a subject that does not seem well represented in Southwest studies. After a brief overview of the Pueblo lands before the Spaniards' arrival, the book delves headlong into 18th and early 19th century history of the New Mexico/Texas borderlands and does a very good job laying out a very interesting story. Good stuff, and plenty of source citations to keep us happy. I recommend it!
